Dr. Justin P. Calhoun, D.C.
I grew up in Sherburne NY. At age 2 1/2 I fell face first off the front steps, hit my head on the bottom cement step and ended up with 7 stitches over my right eye. I still remember they could not give me any pain killers. I still remember the needle and thread and the doctor commenting on how he was amazed that I did not move or cry at all when he stitched me up I also remember the green lime lollipop the doctor gave me at the end.
By age 5 I was getting severe migraines. I was getting the migraines two to three times a week one to three weeks out of the month.
No medical doctor could figure what was going on with me. They first thought I had a disease and took blood tests on me every two weeks for three months. No abnormalities there. They tried drugs and finally decided they did not work. (I must not have had a deficiency of any drugs because they did not help fix the problem. Do you know any disease caused by a deficiency of a drug? I don’t. So why do we use so many drugs to treat disease? Did you know adverse reactions to prescription drugs and surgery are the number one reason for preventable deaths in the United States?)
Well then the doctors thought I had allergies. They took me off soda / pop. That was a good thing I must admit. Then they took me off all dairy products. I grew up on a dairy farm! Can you believe it? No dairy for a dairy farmer. Powdered milk substitute tastes like terrible watery chalk. Well that did not help either. So I went back to drinking the healthy unpasteurized milk right from our cows. There was no difference in the severe migraines.
Then it came down to a diagnosis of heritage / genetics. They said they could not figure out what was going on with me so it must be since my mom would get migraines that I inherited it from here. What proof did they have that migraines where caused from genetics. None! They still don’t.
They should have said that they just don’t know where the migraines are coming from and that my parents should look elsewhere for other advice? At least then my parents might have brought me to a chiropractor sooner.
My Uncle who was a Chiropractor visited form Texas when I was around six. He used the Gonstead System of Chiropractic. www.gonstead.com He told us about chiropractic and adjusted my neck. I felt different and better. I still remember that day like it just happened. It was like a light or the power was turned on. My Mom started seeing a chiropractor about 45 minutes form us and I would go once in a while to get adjusted with her. I started feeling better and had fewer migraines and so did she. When I was16 and could drive I started seeing my Uncle who had moved up from Texas within about 45 minutes from where I lived. After about three months of weekly care I was only getting a migraine once a month and they decrease in frequency with the more chiropractic care I was given. I still get them occasionally but they are less severe and only once or twice a year.
It all started when I was 2 ½ when falling into the cement step head first caused a subluxation in my neck. It took almost 2 ½ years before the nerve pressure caused by that subluxation in my neck to get bad enough to cause the symptoms. I still have some problems with my neck 40 + years later but my migraines are rare. I just wish I could have been adjusted right after that fall. I would not have had to suffer for so long.
I get adjusted every week and lead a very healthy life. Chiropractic care is a health choice that allows me to maintain a higher level quality of life. It is also an investment into my future. I do not have to spend money on other things to try to cover up my symptoms and I won’t have the severe problems I would have had.
I can honestly say I have seen thousands of people in my office that have had great success with chiropractic care. Unfortunately many of them came in as a last resort with very little hope of getting better. Don’t wait and suffer. Come in for a complimentary consultation to see if specific chiropractic care can help you and or your family and friends.
We have some great Chiropractic Assistants to serve you:
First starting as a practice member, I received many benefits from specific chiropractic care. Then in 2010 I was hired as the front desk CA.
I really enjoy interacting with practice members and seeing the improvement in each.
I started getting chiropractic care from Dr. Calhoun as a practice member in 2010 and a half year later started working in the office as a Chiropractic Assistant.
Previous to finding Calhoun Chiropractic Wellness Center I tried several different chiropractors with no results. I was finally able to receive relief from the care given to me by Dr. Calhoun which I am grateful for. Now my Husband and son are coming too.
Being part of Calhoun Chiropractic Wellness Center gives me opportunity to be part of a team that helps and cares for as many people as we can.

“My experience with chiropractic began in 2000, after suffering with unbearable pain and other odd symptoms due to a freak accident at my child’s birthday part 16 months prior. After several different diagnosis and many failed attempts with traditional medicine, a friend recommended chiropractic. It was a miracle!
Who knew that the body has an innate ability to heal itself? All I needed was the gentle, experienced hands of a Doctor of Chiropractic! I also learned that many other symptoms can benefit from chiropractic care.
If I had only known this years before, I would have brought my fussy newborn in to ease her colic symptoms, as I have seen many newborns in our office have wonderful results with chiropractic care! I love spreading the good news of chiropractic. We’d love for you to visit our office to help you get well again!”
